  • How long can I continue to use my Mastercard debit card? Your Mastercard debit card will stop working 30 days from the date your VISA card was put into the mail.
  • Will I be without a debit card? No, you should not be without a debit card. However, if your address is not up to date in credit union’s system prior to the card mailing, you may not receive your new VISA debit card. Please contact Member Service at 800-245-6199 if our website says the new cards have gone out and you have not received your new card.
  • I have merchants that charge my Mastercard monthly. Will I have to notify those merchants? (Ex. Netflix, insurance companies, Amazon, Apple, utilities) Yes, you need to contact or update all merchants with which you have automatic charges or card information on file using your current card and provide them your new VISA debit card information. This will not apply to merchants that do recurring ACH charges/fees that come straight from a checking or savings account, only to those that keep your debit card information on file.

  • If I have courtesy pay, will I have to re-opt in for courtesy pay with my debit card? No; your courtesy pay status will not be affected and will continue to work throughout the conversion and after.
  • What is the difference between my VISA debit and a VISA credit card? VISA debit is directly linked to your checking account. When you use your VISA debit the funds are withdrawn from your checking account. VISA credit allows you to borrow money and repay it later.
  • What should I do with my Mastercard debit card? Your Mastercard debit card can be destroyed, shredded or returned to any branch for destruction.

VISA is the market leader in both debit and credit card usage and has wide acceptance both domestically and abroad. The credit union’s switch to VISA debit cards means the credit union will be offering one brand of cards for both credit card and debit card services.
